Race Diary Thruxton
Saturday’s qualifying at Thruxton was not the best day it has to be said; had two new tyre runs in qualifying, and on the first flyer of each one there was a red flag. So one of these days! Still appeared to have good pace so I was still hopeful to see what the following day would bring from position 15 on the grid!
But it stayed a hard weekend for us. Race 1 was a pretty quiet race. A few positions changed early on before finishing in the same position, with a knock on the rear early on upsetting the handling.
In Race 2 I started p17 and fought up to finish p10. A strong result for us, and pleasing to achieve the top 10s we are aiming for. Unfortunately we didn't get the reverse pole position we were all hopeful of!
Race 3 didn’t get any better! A lot of incidents around us dropped us back down the order; Thruxton is an unforgiving track and as well as having the steering knocked out, I thought I’d taken a trip on the waltzers (by that I mean I spun; I spun a lot). And then eventually finished p16. Bring on Oulton Park!
